Common Questions
Tax preparation and CPA services.
Which tax returns do you prepare?
Individual returns, business owner and self-employed returns, business entity returns for partnerships (Form 1065), S corporations (Form 1120-S), and C corporations (Form 1120), and trust and estate income tax returns (Form 1041). Individual returns are offered on their own and are not limited to existing business clients.
What does "starting at" mean?
A starting fee is the price for reasonably straightforward work with complete and organized information: a current-year filing, tax-ready records, and one state filing when one is required. Multiple entities, multiple states, rentals, K-1s, foreign reporting, incomplete books, historical cleanup, complex ownership, unusual transactions, substantial tax research, or special reporting requirements increase the scope, and the written quote reflects that before work begins.
Do you provide monthly bookkeeping?
Yes. Monthly accounting and bookkeeping starts at $300/month and is led by our CPA firm: transaction categorization, bank and credit card reconciliations, a basic month-end close, financial statements, general ledger review, and coordination with payroll and tax preparation. The monthly fee depends on transaction volume, the number of accounts and entities, complexity, and reporting requirements. Cleanup and catch-up work is billed hourly and scoped separately.
Can you help set up payroll?
Yes. Payroll setup and implementation starts at $500 and covers platform selection and setup, company and employee configuration, pay schedules, earnings and deductions, payroll tax account coordination, opening balances, accounting integration, testing, and first-payroll support. The payroll platform processes the payroll; we configure, integrate, and review it. Ongoing payroll oversight and reconciliation is hourly.
Can you prepare financial statements for a lender or bonding company?
Yes. We perform financial statement compilations and reviews under the applicable professional standards for banks, lenders, SBA-related financing, bonding and surety companies, licensing boards, owners, and investors. Both are quoted based on scope, and the engagement level depends on what the requesting party requires. We tell you promptly if a request calls for a level of service we do not provide.
How are advisory projects priced?
Advisory, cleanup, systems, startup, transaction, and special project work is billed hourly or quoted based on scope, and fractional CFO advisory is hourly or an ongoing engagement. Before substantial hourly or project work begins, we confirm the scope and pricing in writing.
Do you help with IRS or state tax notices?
Yes, as a separately engaged service billed at our standard hourly rate. We review the notice, confirm the work required and the applicable rate before beginning, and handle IRS, state tax, and other regulatory notices within our firm's scope. Notice assistance is not included in return preparation and does not qualify for the new client discount. We do not provide legal representation.
Can you take over from our current preparer?
Yes. We review prior-year returns as part of the transition so nothing is missed and prior positions are understood.
Is accounting cleanup included in the return preparation fee?
No. We review the records supporting your return. If reconciliations or accounting cleanup are needed, we explain the work and quote it separately before proceeding. Monthly accounting, tax planning, and payroll are also separately scoped services.
Who is this for, and where do you serve clients?
Owner-operated businesses (partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, and LLCs), the owners of those businesses, self-employed individuals, individuals with straightforward returns, trusts and estates, and nonprofit organizations. Dansby CFO+ is based in Pensacola and serves clients across the Gulf Coast, Northwest Florida, and South Alabama, in person and remotely, by appointment.
